ATYPICAL DUCTAL HYPERPLASIA adobe acrobat pdf of 'Total Mastectomy (No Reconstruction)'

Atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH) are abnormal changes of the fibrocystic lining of the duct space within the breast. This finding is considered potentially pre-cancerous and high risk. ADH on needle biopsy is an indication for excision with wire localization.

In approximately 5% of patients, the excision specimen can show ductal carcinoma in-situ (DCIS). If this is the case, further surgery or treatment may be indicated depending on the actual final pathology. Dr. Ricardo will be able to discuss that with you if necessary.
